Google Hangouts - Great for Instruction and PD

Google has made it extremely easy to create videos and share with anybody. Using hangouts you can share information and do training or instruction to many people at a time.
Here are some things that you will need to get started -
Google account (personal or a school GAFE (Google Apps for Education account)
Set up your Google+ Profile and confirm your Youtube Channel
Hardware - Webcam and a microphone (if your webcam does not have one)
Terms to become familiar with:
Google+ - Google's venture into the sharing and a social network. It uses a circles (friends, professorial colleges, students) to group the people you want to follow. This has been opened to K-12 just in the past 2 weeks
Hangouts - The term for when people on Google+ get together to have video chat (with Google Apps for Education that can be up to 15)
Hangouts on Air - This is where you can stream your Hangout live on YouTube to as many people as want to watch it - It also can be recorded - then you can edit the video right on YouTube using Video Manager or download it to edit with your own software.
YouTube Video Manager - A tool that YouTube provides that can - combine videos, trim videos, trim and delete video, enhance video, add filters, upload videos and annotate. You can just use this tool to create videos from a webcam if you like.
Hangouts Features- Can have up to 15 people as part of a hangout (GAFE Only, personal account 9) Share Screen, have a lower 3rd, share Google Docs, watch Youtube videos together, share Google Drive, even funny faces and choose to record the session or not.
Some Suggested Uses:
PD - Any type from instructional to Technical
Student Instruction - Math and Language come to mind but just about anything would be a great use for creating vidoes.
Working on Projects
Collaborating with others
Observing Classrooms
