Evernote is a great tool for keeping up with everything in your life. For me, it does not replace Dropbox. I use Dropbox for actual files, but I use Evernote for organizing information.
Capture anything - Text, images, voice and works on all devices (PC/Mac/iOs/Andriod/Web)
Evernote has a great search tool - Use tags to help organize your notes, you can highlight notes (great for sharing)

Tips and Hints
You can make one account for your personal life and one for your school or combine them into one.
Save everything, voice, pictures, docs, text, list - whatever you can imagine
Share individual notes or notebooks with family, friends, professional connections

Webclipper - You can install the Webclipper and clip parts of all of a webpage to Evernote
*** Screen Capture - When you install Evernote you also install a screen capture program that is in the system tray on Windows and on the Toolbar on MacOS. and then using Skitch program you can annotate the capture.
Things to remember
Text recognition on images or scanned pages
Can make notes many different ways on different devices
On mobile devices use voice to text to dictate your notes or even documents

Skitch - (PC, MAC, iOS, Andriod) A drawing app that can be used on all devices to annotate images and then allows you to save to evernote.
